Fender x Game of Thrones

What wound up as the top performing Fender social content came from humble beginnings. Without much fanfare, the Fender Custom Shop and Principal Master Builder Ron Thorn had spent the better part of two years designing and building a limited edition set of ultra premium guitars to celebrate the final season of the show.

About 3-4 weeks before the season premier we found out about the project and got wind of the idea to do a super simple production to tell the story in IGTV. I dove in to pull together a more elevated version of the story and hired a videographer to come out to the shop with me to interview Ron. We found out that Dan Weiss, co-creator and showrunner of Game of Thrones and world-class guitar fiend, would be coming by that same day and he was gracious enough to sit down for an interview. At the end of the interview we floated the idea that it’d be awesome to deliver the guitars to him someplace where he and a few friends could play them for us. He made a few calls and before we knew it we had a world class roster of players lined up. We pulled together a second shoot day, sourced a studio and an engineer and went to town.
