NSX Wall
The launch of the NSX was hyped beyond belief. The original car had shattered the mold of what a supercar was supposed to be. There is a giant cult following for that original car and multiple delays in the production of the new car had people doubting if it would ever actually happen. As the release approached, a clear need for a content hub emerged. It would house breaking news, behind the scenes content, a documentary series, social media posts and more.
The primary focus of the experience was a 10 episode documentary series that told the story of the design, production, testing and refinement of the new car as well as the history and love for the original. To that end, the hero section of the site was a video gallery that allowed users to watch the episodes right on site. Selecting an episode would filter the content displayed in the grid below.
Each episode had a wide variety of content types associated with it. There could be video snippets, gifs, articles, podcasts, audio files, social posts or still imagery. Some information resolution was needed to clearly communicate what users were diving into. We tried to balance that with the use of minimalistic, evocative imagery.
Earlier Iterations
One of the first options, this take focused on passive content consumption on tablets. There was a timeline running down the right hand side that would run from present day all the way back to the launch of the original NSX.
The next take started to get a bit more graphic in the hero and sought to break out of the more rigid grid structure of the previous option. Breaking the edge of content grid with the deep dive controls was an interesting idea that helped to make the page a bit more digestable. The hero on this page was really starting to feel good though so I scrapped this grid and went back to a more simplistic approach with more evocative imagery.
